Meet the person behind the lens.

Hi, I'm Will

I'm a wedding photographer in Leicester, based in Hinckley with my two hooligans Sienna & Dylan.

I work all over the UK and abroad and I'm professionally qualified in photography with a BA Hons in Photographic Arts. But to be fair that feels like a lifetime ago and I'm not sure how relevant the degree is, given that is was roughly a hundred years ago!

As a creative and extremely sociable person, I love to add massive value to your wedding day. I have an extremely dry sense of humour and really love to have a laugh with people at weddings. I like to think I'm good at what I do, but I don't take myself too seriously.

My social life disappeared when I had kids, so being a Wedding Photographer gives me the chance to get "Out Out" with fellow grown-ups!

Oh, and rumour has it I know my way around a camera too!

"Oh Will, that's just perfect!!
Thank you SO much!!
I am so pleased we chose you"

I love to capture the beautiful in-between glimpses that make your wedding day so special

A bit of advice

Once you've left a photographer's website, if you can't remember at least 3 of the pictures 10 minutes later, don't go back!

That includes mine. Give it a try

Hopefully I've not just gone and shot myself in the foot!

Why me as your Wedding Photographer?

I absolutely love being a wedding photographer.

From the very first phone call I have with a couple, to the final moment I hand over their finished work. I get such a buzz from creating something that lovely people will treasure forever and revisit over and over again.

I love being a wedding photographer in Leicester and have experienced a variety of venues and wedding types across the UK, from sprawling country parks to bustling city centres....Intimate special days with only a few people, to mass night club style rave-ups where everyone's invited including the postman!

Pictures may be flat but I believe meaningful photos go deeper.

During your wedding day you'll find me capturing the emotion and story in every picture I create. Whether it be a cheeky flower girl sipping champagne, Mum wiping away a tear at the ceremony or Grandma strutting her moves on the dancefloor.

True skill lies in the ability to freeze in time the emotion of a moment and preserve it forever.

So, What's Important To You?

I think it's so important to invest time to get to know each happy couple I work with. People are unique and I love to capture your personality and unique relationships in the pictures I take.

Maybe it's an adored pet.

Your motorbike.

Your football team.

A special Game.

A meaningful song.

Let's capture what makes your wedding story unique!

Some different styles of Wedding Photography to consider.

Traditional Wedding Photography

Traditional wedding photography is based on classical posing and staged lighting techniques. Shots are typically very controlled, a style favoured for formal weddings.

Whilst I can shoot in this style, it is not really what I enjoy and is not my natural style. You may be better of finding someone more suited to that traditional style.

Contemporary Wedding Photography

Contemporary wedding photography is certainly more modern in style and approach. The use of natural light and surroundings is used to create a unique and beautiful look. Certain 'must have' groupings will be controlled by the photographer. I can't speak for all wedding photographers in Leicester, but with me, it will be done in a fun and lively way. In comparison to Traditional Wedding Photography, a Contemporary style prioritises genuine laughs and emotion over complete control.

Photojournalistic Wedding Photography

Photojournalistic wedding photography captures very natural, candid moments as they happen. This spontaneous style is preferred by couples who want a very natural look to their special wedding photos.

I'm often told by my happy couples that they didn't even realise that a funny moment happened or that me and my camera were in the room at the time. These moments are so unique and special and can only be achieved by a photographer with an experienced and creative eye.

So, what style do I specialise in?

I guess you could describe my style as 'Contemporary Photojournalistic'. That sounds so pretentious doesn't it!

I love the freedom of using the natural light and the surrounding environment (indoor & outdoor of course) to create and spontaneously capture beautiful moments. This gives me enough control to get important groupings together, but not too much control that it takes forever and people get bored and frustrated.

This freedom and speed also enables me to capture candid moments of genuine emotion without you even realising I'm there. Great examples of this can be found in my Hair & Makeup Gallery

Remember,

I can be invisible.

I can be Everywhere

& Nowhere

all at once!!!

Check out my Receptions Gallery to see examples of this style.

Uncle Dave's got a decent camera hasn't he?

So why book a professional wedding photographer?

A professional wedding photographer will make sure that your wedding photographs are PERFECT. Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. It is the day when you make a life-changing commitment to one another with your family and loved ones there to share this special day with you.

Typically on your own wedding day, the bride and groom are so overwhelmed by the occasion and busy meeting and greeting, that your are unable to stand back, reflect and take in the moment. A good wedding photographer will help you to do this retrospectively by capturing the emotion and special moments of your wedding day. Especially those seemingly insignificant little moments that you would have forgotten or missed altogether.

As a reminder of one of the most special days of your life, your wedding photographs will be something that you revisit and cherish forever.

THERE'S A REASON THIS PAYS MY BILLS, SO...

...DON'T LEAVE IT TO UNCLE DAVE !

If you want me to capture beautiful moments of your wedding day that truly convey your personalities, then I'd love to hear from you.

Let's discuss how I can make your Special Day even more special.

FAQ's

Your most asked wedding photography questions.

I'm going to assume you've never hired a photographer before, so it's important that you get to know them, like them and crucially, trust them. So here are the most asked questions a Leicester wedding photographer will hear.

You're a Leicester wedding photographer so I assume you've shot at our wedding venue before?

The honest truth is that whether I have or I haven't, it really doesn't matter. I would never replicate or copy what I'd done at a previous wedding anyway. You deserve better than that. You are unique and I want to capture a unique story for you.

Shooting at new venues is inspiring and approaching it with a fresh pair of eyes makes for great creativity which is ultimately better for you guys.

I also ensure that I get to your Leicestershire or Warwickshire wedding venue nice and early so I can chat to the registrar, take some light readings and get my creative head on.

New venue? No biggie!

I hate having my photo taken! What will you do?

This is so incredibly common and people feel guilty about saying this to a wedding photographer. Don't sweat it, I won't take it personally. I HATE HAVING MY PHOTO TAKEN TOO.

Unless you're a professional model, most people don't love it and certainly don't look their best when forcing a smile. For this reason, my approach is extremely relaxed. I won't bore you with all the details or my secret techniques, but there are so many ways that a confident photographer can get people genuinely and spontaneously reacting. My two favourites.

Don't look at the camera, look at each other. I promise you'll naturally just laugh or do something other than say "CHEESE".

Get a wedding guest to stand behind the camera and do something crazy. Some of the utter rudeness I've had going on behind my back must have been a sight to behold to get the kind of expressions I get.

Do you take formal shots?

Yes absolutely, if you want me to. I understand that you want to stay in the Grandparent's good books, so certain boxes need ticking. There absolutely is a place for traditional family line-ups at a wedding. But rest assured, I make sure there's plenty of natural laughs and fun in there too.

Some people just want 3 or 4 groupings. Some like many more. A 'must have' list is something I recommend we compile as we get to know each other better. But don't worry. I'll still be there getting all those candid documentary style shots that you love.

What happens at the evening reception?

Every wedding will differ. Sometimes I'll get loads of evening action shots and others less so. This tends to be lead by the guests themselves and how much is happening. But if you're having a DJ or a band for example, I will absolutely stay to capture all the fun and action of the dancefloor. Almost all wedding photographers leave after the first dance, but I take great pride in the way that I capture everybody having a dance in the evening. So, I'd absolutely encourage people to let their hair down and get their dancing shoes on, as taking formal photos of everybody sitting around a table isn't great.

I'll be there to capture as much of the reception action as I can, and when the dance floor starts to quieten down, I'll call it a night.

What if it rains on our wedding day?

"Right that's it, let's call the whole thing off!!!"

Or...be prepared. As a wedding photographer in Leicester, or the UK in general for that matter, you cannot control the weather. A thunderstorm at 1pm will often be followed by a heatwave at 3pm. My advice is to embrace it. Everything's still going to be amazing and the photographs are still going to be awesome.

Here's a tip for you.

You're probably not short of Aunties asking if there's anything they can help with in the lead up to the big day. Make one of them your Rainy Day Co-ordinator. A rainy day box in the boot of a car equipped with 5 or 6 umbrellas, a pack of towels, hair dryer and even some wellies could be a God send when you need them most.

And as your wedding photographer, I can actually use the weather as a key and memorable part of your story.

Long story short. Don't panic, leave it to me and let's get creative.

Your wedding day is going to be one of the most special occasions of your life. But it can also be very overwhelming and stressful. There are some great resources and planning guides out there to help you get things in order.

Can we see some of your wedding shoots in full?

Yes absolutely. I'm extremely proud of the diverse range I capture for each wedding. Any photographer can put together 20 great shots from 20 separate weddings. But that really doesn't help you does it?
